AWG has developed MOG-removal units that are stand-alone systems used for selective harvesting. These systems can be deployed on harvest bin trailers or retrospectively installed on the boom arm of harvesters. This allows growers to use existing harvesters while still gaining the benefits of clean, MOG-free picks. AWG’s technology is also an affordable alternative to on-board selective harvesters, making it an efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective grape sorting technology compatible with any grape harvester. AWG’s patented infield grape sorters are specialized only in infield grape sorting, with the company being the only one in the world 100% committed to sorting grapes in the field. AWG has successfully trialed in high yielding vineyards with excellent results, sorting more than 50 tons per hour.

Farmo is a farm management system that uses a range of sensors to monitor all aspects of a farm in real-time and sends alerts to a user’s phone. The system also provides historical data for analysis on a laptop. Its unique feature is a 5-second “throw in the tank” installation that supports the movement of herds in regenerative grazing practices. Further, Farmo’s Water Rat is an easy-to-deploy water sensor that reports in real-time and can be moved with the herd, updating its position via GPS. Farmo competes with other farm management systems such as Farm Bot, Agbot, and Moovement.

Gaia Project Australia (GPA) has developed a Nutrient flow technique (NFT) channel grow system that expands with the plants’ growth cycle, resulting in a 100% increase in yields compared to the industry average. The system is designed to complement any Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) hydroponic leafy green cultivation method, making it suitable for greenhouse or vertical farms. Traditional farming methods are becoming less productive due to increasing input prices and inclement weather, making CEA farms a viable replacement. However, CEA farms have low yield densities and high input costs, making them expensive to operate. GPA’s IP can double the efficiency and yield of CEA farms, reducing costs and making them more profitable.

LYRO Robotics is a company that creates robotic solutions for the fresh produce and food processing industry. Their robots address labour shortages by providing consistent, reliable throughput to packing operations, precisely pattern packing a variety of fresh produce and food items such as avocados, zucchinis, pineapples, sweet potatoes and flow-wrapped trays and punnets. The company’s proprietary LYRO Machine Intelligence integrates AI, computer vision, and robotic grasping, enabling their robot to pick and pack any item, even if it has not seen it before. The LYRO LR-1 Robotic packer is designed to solve problems related to agricultural labour shortages, which is a major challenge for farms globally. The company specializes in objects with high variability, such as avocados and zucchinis, and can easily retrofit robots to existing production lines, with installation and commissioning taking only a few hours.

Magic Valley is developing healthy and tasty cultivated meat products that can meet the future protein demands of the world’s growing population sustainably. With the global population expected to reach 10 billion in the next 30 years and animal-based protein demand projected to rise by 100%, traditional animal agriculture is inadequate. Magic Valley aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 92%, improve human health, and save 70 billion animal lives annually by developing meat products using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology, which enables mass production at scale without harming animals. Competitors in this space include Good Meat, Upside Foods, and Meatable.

Their patented probe offers biological data on a hot carcase, providing objective measures to support claims of provenance, nutritional value, and recall. It is also the only available technology for hot marbling measures. By using the MEQ Probe, the supply chain can improve consistency and optimize carcase value, reducing variability and enabling earlier decision-making in processing. Additionally, the company’s patent-pending technology to measure carcase value and yield measures during the life of the cattle can lead to meaningful sustainability benefits by reducing methane emissions and consumption of feed and water without loss in productivity.

Optomni, an Australian-based company, aims to tackle the high levels of food waste in the fresh and perishables supply chain with its AI-enabled supply and demand optimization platform, OmniOrder. Approximately 18-22% of fresh produce in Australia is lost before reaching shelves due to supply-demand mismatches, costing the economy AUD 1.6B and contributing to 4M tonnes of carbon emissions annually. OmniOrder optimizes growers’ and wholesalers’ supply decisions based on market demand, helping reduce waste while maximizing profits and accessing new market opportunities. Additionally, the platform offers features like inventory tracking, invoicing, and pricing, making it a comprehensive solution for perishable food supply chains.

The platform’s integration engine connects over 130+ IoT sensors, apps, and satellite imagery to the dashboard. Pairtree offers two products: a white-label service allowing agribusinesses and agronomists to build new connected services on the universal dashboard platform, and a yet-to-be-launched Normalised API product, allowing seamless integration of a wide range of data sets for tech-focused businesses.

PostHarvest Technologies has developed a product which can measure essential ripening gases and compounds at a micro level. By being able to measure and assess any changes at these micro levels, PostHarvest Technologies can predict when produce will ripen up to 9 months in advance. This system allows cool room operators to send out produce on time, every time – automating systems to create an ideal storage environment for fresh produce, with the aim of cutting down global cool room losses from 30% down to 5%.

After winning five major international awards, grants and recognition PostHarvest is now undergoing mass production of its units to supply every major food operator in the world with its technology.

Xsights is developing a smart ear tag called XIoT to monitor the welfare of livestock. The tag collects real-time location and temperature data to enable early interventions, reducing mortality and preventing disease spread. The device includes an integrated sensing unit, security unit, processing unit, and Bluetooth transmitter. Mesh networking is used to communicate with BLE gateways on farms, in trucks, and in abattoirs, creating location, movement, and eating and watering logs, as well as ear temperature. Machine learning will be used to automatically process the data for real-time monitoring and reporting. The product is being tested with collaborators including Craig Mostyn Group, Curtin University, Food Agility, and DIPIRD.
